Backstory
D-Orbit is a space infrastructure pioneer with offices in Italy, Portugal, the UK, and the US. The company boasts an impressive track record in the area of space logistics, with B2B solutions that enable other companies to make gains in the trillion-dollar space economy. Their commitment to pursuing business models that are profitable, friendly for the environment, and socially beneficial led to D-Orbit becoming the world's first certified B-Corp space company. A key product is the ION satellite carrier, a space vehicle that transports satellites into precise orbital slots, greatly reducing deployment times and costs.
In January 2022, D-Orbit announced its plans to go public via a merger with special purchase acquisition company Breeze Holdings. The deal, which values D-Orbit at $1.4 billion, is expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2022.

Why we invested
It’s only a matter of time before transportation in space diversifies in the same way it has on Earth—that is to say, with larger crafts (like cargo ships, for example) carrying high volumes across long distances, and smaller, efficient vehicles closing the last mile. D-Orbit is tapping into this precise scenario, building a “smart container” that carries many small satellites with thrust to complete the last mile. We were impressed not only with their technology, but the clarity of their vision. They are addressing a major future market in a highly scalable way.
